Location / Directions

By car:

Eisenach is reached very easily from Autobahn A4.
Take the exit “Eisenach-Ost” and follow the signs for “Eisenach”. Signs for the Lutherhaus are posted all over downtown Eisenach.

Enter the address “Lutherplatz 8, 99817 Eisenach” in your navigation system.

A metered parking lot with a disabled parking space is located right in front of the Lutherhaus on Lutherplatz. Other metered parking is located right in the vicinity. The parking garage “Am Markt” is also good to use. It is located right downtown and has 252 spaces. From there, take a short walk (600 m) across the beautiful historic market square right to the Lutherhaus.

Enter the address “Hinter der Mauer 3, 99817 Eisenach” in your navigation system.

By train:

Interstate ICE and IC trains as well as regional trains travel to Eisenach Central Station every day.

You’ll find a taxi stand and public buses from the Eisenacher Verkehrsbetriebe (KVG) in front of the train station.
On foot, walk along Bahnhofstrasse, pass through the medieval Nikolaitor (Nicholas Gate), spend a moment at the Luther monument on Karlsplatz (Charles Square) and then follow Karlstrasse to the Markt (Market) and you’ll see the city’s most beautiful historic sites on your way from the train stations to the Lutherhaus.
Walking this route will take you approximately 15 minutes (1000 m).

By tour bus:

Free short-term parking (5 – 10 minutes maximum) for tour groups is located right at the Lutherhaus, thus enabling drivers to drop of guests and pick them up later at a prearranged time. Metered parking for buses at Frauenplan (nine spaces) right in front of the Bachhaus is recommended for long-term parking.
If that is full, there is more bus parking on Uferstrasse (nine spaces).

By bike:

Four of Germany’s most beautiful bicycle routes intersect in Eisenach.
Regardless of whether you’re riding your bike along the Werra or following the historic Thuringia Town Chain Cycle Trail, all routes lead to downtown Eisenach and, thus, to us, too. You’ll find several bike racks at the Lutherhaus.

For guests with Limited Mobility:

Our building is largely universally accessible.
Metered parking for people with disabilities is located on Lutherplatz right in front of our building.

By plane:

Eisenach is very easy to reach in the center of Germany.
Each of the two international airports in Frankfurt am Main and Leipzig-Halle is approximately 200 km away from Eisenach. You can take a train directly from each. Erfurt-Weimar airport is closest to us; private aircraft can land at Eisenach-Kindel commercial airport.
